Reflection #4:
To what extent does space exploration contribute to the advancement of society? We made revisions by making sure to have everything turned in and approved. Compared to the beginning we learned a lot about how technology made for space exploration contributed to humans on earth. During our research we did learn about the idea about scholarly research and how to conduct it. We learned that an oral presentation on something that we’ve worked on for multiple weeks and hours is gratifying and fun, but still has it’s difficulties. We learned that through student-led research we can gather a lot of information and data. During our collaborative process we worked very well and quickly, we also had fun doing it. If we were to have done something differently, we wouldn’t have because our project came out the way we wanted it to. One piece of advice we would give to an incoming student is to go to as many mentorships as possible and ask your mentors for help when needed.

Symposium Reflection #3
Since the last time I wrote about my research, I learned about how NASA’s advancement have contributed to humanity’s. I learned that I can work fairly well with others. We want to make sure that our background looks like space because our topic is centered around space exploration. We currently don’t really know what to do about our supplemental piece, but we are leaning towards drawing and coloring two different scenarios pertaining to the funding of space exploration. In our next steps we need to make sure we can complete our supplemental component, and do it well. Our collaboration is going well, and we are getting our work done so things are fine.
Symposium Reflection #2
Since the last time we wrote about our research I found out that humans on Earth are mining asteroids for resources in space. Our topic changed from space travel to space exploration, but we have had the same driving question, because it drives our research in an interesting direction. In our student led research, we are doing a survey because it has more perspectives on what we are looking for. Something that has been easy is communication between our members and getting work done, something difficult has been deciding on what to do sometimes. In our next steps we must make sure to make decisions and research more diverse articles with different perspectives. Our collaborating is going very well, but there are times where we are stuck trying to make decisions.
Symposium Reflection #1
The articles we found found were centered around our topic, space travel. One of them was about developing new technology to be able to travel faster, and the other was about why space travel is important. The article “The Importance of Exploration” by Nasa, relates to our universal theme Exploration and one of the Generalizations, Requires recognizing purpose and responding to it. The other article relates to the generalization May result in new findings or the confirmation of old because the faster we can travel the faster we can confirm our findings or find new things. So far I have learned that anyone can be inspired to make new technology when they’re a child, and that new technology can inspire more people to make new technology. We are currently thinking about changing our topic, due to it’s lack of contemporary relevance in the news currently, but we decide to stick to the topic for now due to our ability to find most of the information we need. Our topic also fits very well with our universal theme and its generalization, making it why we are sticking with it now. In our next steps we hope to find how much funding it would take to travel through space at very high speeds. We also hope to find who would have enough money to fund space travel. Our group has worked well so far, but we lack any decision making skills to be able to confidently make decisions. We also have had a little miscommunication when it comes to if we are going to change our topic, what to change it to. However our group has been able to get most of what we need done and has worked well collaboratively and we have split the work fairly well.
